A Guide To Choosing Running Shoes

by Tom Doerr

The footwear that you wear for your workouts is extremely important, since it affects how your muscles react to every movement of your body and how the shock from hitting the ground with your feet is absorbed. If you love to work out, but find that your feet are always sore after you finish jogging or running, you may need a new pair of running shoes.

Your footwear can have a serious impact on your workouts. For example, if you wear the wrong footwear, you may feel very sore after you finish exercising. Wearing the right footwear, on the other hand, may help you extend your workouts and finish exercising without feeling sore. The right footwear will provide you with support, shock absorption, and will fit very well.

You should always wear athletic, rather than casual, sneakers when jogging or doing other strenuous activities. Casual sneakers generally do not have much support or shock absorbing materials in them. If you run while wearing casual sneakers, you may be more likely to hurt yourself or get shin splints.

Before purchasing a pair of sneakers, find out which parts of your feet are under the most pressure when you walk or run. You can figure this out by looking at the soles of a pair of sneakers or flats that you wear very often. Look for the parts of the soles that are really worn out - these are the areas of your feet that are under the most pressure and need the most support.

If you are having a hard time finding a pair of athletic footwear that provides the support you need, consider purchasing some insoles. You can find insoles that support the arches, heels, and balls of the feet. There are also custom insoles available in some stores.

Before you purchase a pair of running shoes, be sure to try them on and walk around in them. This will allow you to find the best fit and the most comfort.
